I think we have been moving for a solid month, but it seems like a lot longer. Today it was made more fun by adding rain. I hope it is done soon. I sure am tired of writing about it and having it as an excuse.
Chapters, not Scenes
Chapters is the right unit of measurement, not scenes. My books typically have 24 chapters, so getting one chapter done a day would work out to a book a month. Plus, they are intended to be very similar in size, at least in the same book, so they should be a reasonable unit for gauging speed and progress.
Scenes are not useful for measuring speed and progress, as they are not intended to be similar in size (except for Long Way Home). Different scenes serve different purposes, and each is supposed to be as long or as short as it needs to be, and some chapters have as few as one scene or as many as seven or more.
Long term, for regular books, I think a reasonable goal is one chapter per day. However, for my current plans to succeed, I need to find a pace closer to three a day.
