Writing In Public: Day 3

Wednesday, February 3: Happy birthday!

When I was a kid, a birthday was a quiet celebration after dinner with your family. Today was my daughter’s fifth birthday, and we had to start the day with cake, candles, and presents.

I didn’t get as much time as I wanted for writing today. For the birthday, there was a little celebration in the morning. At noon I had to go get some birthday supplies, then I had to take her to get her nails done, then birthday dinner, then helping with the birthday presents. Next thing you know it’s bedtime and where did the day go?

Business: Outreach

Wednesdays I have designated for outreach, but today there was none of that. I will have to get to that tomorrow, but today it was more important to keep production going. And to get everything in order for the birthday, of course.

Writing: Spring Rains

I am not happy with how this is going. Sometimes I feel that I’m writing good stuff, and sometimes I feel like I’m writing crap, but I noted long ago that when I look at the work later, how I felt about it while writing it doesn’t seem connected to its actual quality at all. So, in the end, just keep writing. As Johnny B. Truant says, just “write through the suck.”

It seems that I don’t have a good idea what this story is yet. Once again, it feels like uncovering an existing story more than making one up. I’m curious what it will end up being.

In the evening, after a few hours of nap, I got back to writing and made good progress. Overall, I’m happy with the way things are going.
